At Meavy we embrace the Church of England’s vision for education, one that is, ‘deeply Christian, serving the common good of the whole community’. At some point in life we will all face challenges and need support to help us overcome these barriers. At Meavy we teach our children that it is important to help others no matter who they are, where they come from or what challenges they may face. We teach this through the teachings of the bible and learning about other courageous advocates. We encourage our children to be courageous advocates - to ‘take action’ on issues of injustice in the world.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” - Proverbs 31:8-9
By doing this our children are living out our school vision 'Learning to love, learning to live together.'
In collective worship this week we spoke about the importance of our children using their voice - to speak up about issues that matter to them. It was wonderful to see this happening in our youngest class in response to a story they shared. Change makers of the future!
